SIGMA announces special donation to Médecins Sans Frontières’ Emergency Team as part of its comprehensive humanitarian support program

SIGMA today announces an immediate donation of 10’000’000 JPY to the Médecins Sans Frontières’s Emergency Team fundraiser via MSF Japan.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) have been providing emergency medical assistance in areas affected by disasters, conflicts, disease and other urgent crises around the world for more than 50 years, and currently offer invaluable medical support to the people affected by the worsening humanitarian crisis due to the terrible war in Ukraine.

We wish to support MSF on their mission to provide continuous and comprehensive humanitarian help based on high expertise to those most in need. In consideration of recent natural disasters, mass infectious outbreaks and violent military conflicts in regions around the world, SIGMA has decided to make a special donation in addition to our ongoing financial support in the hope of making at least a small impact.
SIGMA strongly sympathizes with the goals and fundamental philosophy of Médecins Sans Frontières and has been a corporate supporter of MSF Japan for more than 15 years. The Emergency Team is a special support system within Médecins Sans Frontières capable of offering immediate medical assistance during urgent situations and raising awareness on pressing issues.

We believe peace, friendship and fraternity to be fundamental, universal human desires. To us, creative endeavors such as photography are unthinkable without a worldview based on these values and ideals.
It is our deepest hope that peace and harmony will be restored to all people around the world as early as possible.

About Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders. We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff – bound together by our charter. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality.
MSF was founded in 1971 in Paris by a group of journalists and doctors. MSF Japan, established in 1992, is responsible for recruitment and dispatch of staff, communication and advocacy about humanitarian crises and fundraising to carry out its mission. Today, MSF is a worldwide movement of nearly 65,000 people.

About the MSF Emergency Team
Doctors Without Borders dispatches a surveying team to afflicted areas within 48 hours. If the damage is determined to be severe, MSF organizes and dispatches a team of members best suited for the respective situation in order to provide medical aid during urgent crises, such as violent conflicts or infrastructural breakdown. Furthermore, MSF organizes the transport of medical supplies and establishes supply routes.
