Ready for modern assignments
The SIGMA fp series supports the most current file formats. You will have high-quality footage that you can integrate straight into your production workflow, so no need to waste your time on media conversion. With up to 4K UHD recording at 29.97 fps, and three RAW file formats as well as ALL-I recording supported, the fp is in its element in today's filmmaking that calls for high levels of performance under various restraints.
3 Types of most popular RAW formats
External RAW Recording
The SIGMA fp series supports CinemaDNG external recording, as well as Blackmagic RAW and ProRes RAW output to external screen recorder over HDMI. So you can choose a RAW file format according to your project workflow. Furthermore, these RAW output formats are free of charge on SIGMA fp.
For a list of compatible models, see Recommended Accessories.

HDMI RAW output support
Supports multiple frame rates and up to DCI/4K RAW output
4K DCI
It supports different frame rates that are commonly used in filmmaking. The addition of true 24p, will further expand the range of projects you can cover with the fp series. Combined with DCI 4K recording with external output, it can be optimized to digital cinema formats.
The SIGMA fp and the SIGMA fp L use a full-frame sensor based on Dual Base ISO technology, with approximately 24.6 and 61 effective megapixels, respectively. With two sensitivity levels, namely high and low, these cameras can handle various lighting conditions, giving you a greater choice of exposure settings. In 12 bit CinemaDNG recording in CINE mode or RAW output over HDMI, the fp has a dynamic range of 12.5 stops* and a Dual Base ISO of 100 and 3200, and the fp L, a dynamic range of 13 stops* and a Dual Base ISO of 100 and 1250. This means that both the fp and the fp L are fully capable of optimizing the levels of film grain and noise in your footage by making the most of their sensor's dynamic range, even at an ISO as high as 12800. This comes extremely handy in an HDR project where a camera needs a wide dynamic range. As the ISO switches between the two base levels by itself, you will find it easy to record high quality footage at an optimal setting, even when you have little time to set up or fine-tune the lighting.

All-I Recording compatibility
Supports All-I (All-Intra) recording which helps make data smaller in size and easier to edit at the same time.
fp L Only
Optical Low Pass Filters
It features a low-pass filter to optimize the balance between the low pass effect and sharpness, which is expected in a 61-megapixel sensor. This effectively reduces moiré and color artifacts in images.
Zebra patterning
The SIGMA fp has a zebra pattern display, which shows areas of the image that are of specified brightness levels in stripes. This helps to check for overblown highlights and adjust exposure accordingly.
Waveform display
The SIGMA fp has a waveform display that shows video data to check the video in a numerical manner based on its signal information.
fp L Only
Always follows your vision.
Hybrid Autofocus
In addition to high-precision contrast AF, the SIGMA fp L features fast image plane phase-difference AF. It has high-accuracy to the subject and is useful for focusing in situations where manual focus is difficult, such as recording using a gimbal or one-operation recording.
fp L Only
Taking all situations with just one lens? Yes, you can.
Crop Zoom
The Crop Zoom function allows you to pinch to zoom in and out on the LCD touch screen from the center point and record the cropped image while maintaining the sharpness of the original image. A high pixel count such as approx. 61 megapixels can stand an extreme zooming or cropping with no digital enhancement to help you expand your creativity without compromising delicate rendering and rich details. This was one aspect of an ultra-high pixel camera that led SIGMA to give the fp L a cropped zoom feature that works also in the CINE mode. Thanks to its ample megapixels, the fp L can record in full HD quality even at its maximum 5x zoom and it is compatible with zoom lenses as well.
Master your workflow
Work smartly
The SIGMA fp series of cameras have a range of features and a specially-designed user interface, which makes them a very intuitive camera to work with in filmmaking. They support an external timecode generator, are capable of frame grabbing and zebra patterning, and have a waveform monitor—they have everything you need for efficient workflow, so that you can focus on shooting. In addition, a director's viewfinder as well as newly introduced features such as screenshots and recommendations will help ensure precise and efficient communication within the project team.

Director’s viewfinder
Essential item for every film director
A director's viewfinder is an essential tool for a film director in deciding on angle of view and composition. The SIGMA fp series of cameras both come with a director's viewfinder function that allows you to simulate shooting ranges of different cinema cameras. The frame guide, meanwhile, now supports custom frame lines in addition to the presets, so you can add any given value to choose a setting that best suits a given shooting scene. The SIGMA fp cameras will prove an invaluable aid in ensuring smooth communication in pre-production.
Support simulation of diverse cameras
The SIGMA fp series features a director's viewfinder to simulate shooting ranges of cinema cameras by different manufacturers. It can simulate most of the widely used cinema cameras in the field such as the latest large format cameras like ARRI ALEXA LF and RED MONSTRO 8K and other various full-frame cameras and it is also compatible with anamorphic lenses.
When shooting with different aspect ratios in mind, you can use a frame guide that's useful when you decide the composition. The fp series now supports custom frame lines, where you can add a given aspect ratio or absolute pixel dimensions. It will prove useful in filmmaking where it may be necessary to cover different formats from movie, television, smartphone, etc.
NEW
Selection of external viewfinders
You have a choice of two viewfinders for the fp series: the EVF-11, a high-definition and small-sized electronic viewfinder with an organic EL panel, or the LVF-11, an optical LCD viewfinder that allows you to see the view in a large LCD screen to check how it looks on the optical axis.
