When I select gear, I put a lot of value on whether I can feel the camera’s and lenses’ identity and the look of the images they produce rather than purely mathematical criteria like their megapixel count or sharpness profiles.

My impression of the SIGMA fp is that it is a highly portable camera whose specialty is its low weight. The lens I’ve used took surprisingly three-dimensional photographs—almost as if I’ve used a medium-format camera or something larger.

It is a camera that gives me the feeling it will be a strong companion in difficult conditions—in small spaces, for example, or during low light or bad weather.
I actually think the SIGMA fp belongs into its very own genre, apart from other cameras I’ve tried so far, due to its uniqueness and the freedom it grants its users.
If you try to make full use of the camera’s abilities, you’ll see very interesting results.

For my test shooting, I invited the model Bambi to pose for me.

Bambi started her career as a dancer. In my shoot, I focused on capturing her natural charm and delicateness as a person and the variable lighting conditions (the day of the shoot was cloudy with occasional sunshine).

I appreciate the unintrusive shutter sound of the SIGMA fp, as it avoids any additional stress during the shoot. Bambi moved in rhythm with the lens’ closing aperture blades, and we had a smooth shoot together.
